Bruins/Sabres Game 6

TD Garden is rocking early. Buffalo power play but better chances for the B's.

As of 7:33 p.m. I lost the feed for this game. Nasty springtime thunderstorms rolling through the area.

We have comms at 7:45. Boston scored while thunder rolled across the sky here in Virginia Beach.

Krejci on the power play puts Boston up 1-0.

That's how the period ends.

Teams will open up the second period playing 4-on-4.

A little busy being a chef/sandwich artist this evening.

Recchi scores a power play goal to make it 2-0 Bruins 1:01 into the 2nd. They showed his career playoff stats earlier in the game. WOW. Clutch is all I can say. Almost a point per game guy.

Patrick Kaleta pots his first of the playoffs to cut the Bruin lead half.

2nd period ends with the Bruins holding onto a 2-1 lead and 20 minutes away from eliminating the Sabres.

Bruins get a 4:00 power play and cannot add to the lead. Does that give Buffalo a big lift and can they bury one to tie it up?

I guess not. Pretty much right off the faceoff, Lucic centers to Krejci and the Bruins go up 3-1.

22 seconds later Nathan Gerbe buries one on a bonehead give away. Rask was hot after it went in.

Miro Satan with a huge goal late in the 3rd puts Boston up 4-2.

I see a handshake line coming up here shortly.

One step closer to having a tie game.

Vanek scores on a one-timer to cut the lead to 4-3.

We have a hockey game.

Buffalo doesn't get any kind of good chances at the end of the game and the Sabres are sent home.

Bruins still don't know who their 2nd round opponent will be after Montreal forces a Game 7 in D.C.

3 Game 6's on a Monday night.

We have 3 game 6’s this evening which should make for an exciting Monday night of NHL Playoff action.

Buffalo @ Boston – 7p.m. According to early reports this morning, coach Lindy Ruff has hinted that Thomas Vanek might be back in the lineup for the Sabres tonight. Big lift possibly for the Sabres to have their star player back in this obviously pivotal game. The Olympic gold medalist advanced last night so now it’s silver medal Miller’s time to shine and force a deciding game 7 back in Buffalo. On the other side for the Bruins there is even a possibility that Marc Savard gets back on the ice too. It is a long shot because he needs medical clearance to play whereas Vanek just needs to tell the coach he is good to go. Expect Boston to throw everything they got at the Sabres tonight. Miller may have to win this game for the Sabres if there is any hope for a deciding Game 7.

Washington @ Montreal – 7p.m. Maybe the Habs would rather play this game in D.C. as they lost both games in Montreal in this series. Caps were down 3-1 last year to the Rangers and came back to win the series in 7. With a win tonight, Montreal gets a shot at turning the tables on the Caps. They would head to D.C. with a chance to eliminate the President’s Trophy winning Caps on home ice in a Game 7. I am guessing Halak gets the start after playing a great game in D.C. to take this series to a 6th game. The 2 games in Montreal were rather high scoring affairs but I do not expect that this go ‘round. Another 2-1 or 3-2 game gives the Habs their best shot to win. If they want to get into a track meet with the Caps, I don’t think they can pull it off. Smart plays all over the ice for the Habs tonight or this one is over.

Chicago @ Nashville – 9p.m. Can anyone say controversy? Hossa’s 5 minute major (which he probably will not be suspended for) and GWG as he stepped out of the box in OT will have some big time boo-birds out in Nashville every time he touches the puck. The last game in Chicago was a wild one. Could we see more of the same as Nashville hopefully doesn't make the same blunders they did in Chicago on Saturday? This is probably, to me, the most intriguing game of the night and should be a thriller.

Sabres/Bruins Game 5

And Ryan Miller is in the game early with a big save.

As it sometimes goes in this game, a big save at one end and a goal at the other. Adam Mair with a wrap around that goes in off of Rask's skate. The Tuukka chant is loud at HSBC. 1-0 Sabres.

Heading to the 1st TV timeout with the Sabres up 1 to skip. Kaleta was a man on a mission during his last shift. Diving in front of a Chara slapper and getting under the skin of the Bruins. At least we know he's not ready to hit the links just yet.

Thornton high sticks Kaleta but Buffalo comes up empty with the man advantage.

Tyler Myers goes off for cross-checking in front. Power play for the Bruins. Nothing really happening for the B's.

Roy with a pass to Pominville down low. One deke and it's in the back of the net. 2-0 Sabres.

2nd period underway in Buffalo. Teams exchange power plays and right off the face-off in the Bruins end, mayhem ensues but the puck never crosses the line. There was a post in there too.

Off a face-off after the penalty expires Mike Grier blows one by Rask. 3-0 Buffalo.

Fast paced action here in the 2nd and not too many whistles. Buffalo is pouring it on . 25-13 shots advantage and 25-11 edge in hits too.

Period ends with the Sabres holding the 3-0 advantage. Bruins came back from down 2-0 before. Can they do 1 better in the next 20 minutes and not allow Buffalo to light the lamp anymore?

Halfway through the 3rd. Boston just had some sustained pressure that was halted when Mike Grier blocked a shot with his head. Looks to have gotten all helmet but probably didn't feel too good regardless.

Boychuk blows one by Miller with Roy in the penalty box. Might be too little too late. Under 2:00 to go in the third. 3-1 Buffalo.

And that should do it. Tyler Ennis dives and one hands a shot into the empty net. 4-1 Sabres.

Big time dust up at the end of the game. Miller gets involved as the Sabres are outnumbered after the B's pull the goalie and had the extra attacker out. BIG win for the Sabres and sets up a big time game 6 Monday in Beantown.

Bruins/Sabres Game 4

Ryan Miller with a big 'ol goose egg up there. Bruins would love to go up 3-1 but a 2-0 defecit against a world class goalie? 20 minutes left to get it done. Not like Boston hasn't has their chances. 0 for 3 on the power play so far. Role player type guys with the goals for the Sabres. Montador and a diminutive (5'10" 176 lbs.) Buffalo native by the name of Tim Kennedy. Nice to get goals from guys like that with no Vanek.

Boston gets a power play early in the third. Hunwick's shot from the point has eyes and Bergeron screens Miller so good he could have been in his jersey. Krejci bangs home a big fat rebound and make it 2-1.

Boston right back on the power play after Kaleta get whistled for boarding. Boston cannot tie it up here but they are buzzing around the net. They got the home crowd revved up!

Me and my big mouth. Bergeron is having a huge third period and surprises Miller after some fantastic forechecking by Johnny Boychuk. Game tied at 2.

Like you have heard every announcer say before, "Remember that save." Rask makes a huge save. Laying like he was going to catch a line drive in the gap. WOW!!!

Big time pressure by the Bruins during the last minute trying to end it in regulation. Time for the Zambonis to do some work and get the surface ready for OT.

Going to see who Shanny has for his OT winners on Twitter.

OT starts. Tim Connolly for the Sabres and Michael Ryder for the Bruins is who I am going with for the GWG.

Sabres go on the power play early on in the OT as Bergeron chops down Ennis. Connolly rings the dinner bell and then Blake Wheeler gets stoned on a short-handed breakaway. Edge of your seat OT so far. Miller makes an insane stop on Bergeron.

Back and forth we go. A long time without a whistle. What a barnburner.

I may be a hockey nut but the netminders are my favorites to watch. Miller and Rask making all sorts of 10-bell saves with the game on the line. I hope this game goes into double or triple OT so I can watch these 2 put on a clinic.

1 OT in the books. I like the shootout during the regular season but you cannot beat drama like this during the playoffs.

Miller holding down the fort. Boston is all over the Sabres. Lucic almost kills Miller with a slapper from just inside the circle. OUCH!!!

Bad time for Buffalo to take a bench minor for too many men on the ice. Can Miller slam the door and have this game continue?

And the answer is no. Miro Satan pots the GWG off a feed from Ryder. Hey, at least the guy I picked to score gets the primary assist. :-)

WHAT A GAME!!!!

Buffalo is one game away from elmination. That makes 2 high seeds (Devils and Sabres) needing to come back from 3-1 defecits. Can one or both get it done. Stay tuned!

Bruins/Sabres Game 3

I didn't see any of the 1st period. Boston gets a goal from Wideman and Buffalo gets one from Grier. A defenseman and a tough-as-nails veteran get the tallies for each team respectively. Someone has got to step up and pot some goals for Buffalo with no Vanek. With no Savard, Boston has somehow got it done. A very strong Game 2 might give them the momentum to take a game or 2 at home. We should know in 40 minutes.......or longer.

And Sam Rosen is doing this game. Awesome!

Get your head up Ellis!!! Big clean hit and noone went crazy dropping the gloves like you see happen all too often when a guy gets his clock cleaned legally.

3rd period has been full of action. And wouldn't you know, Ryan Miller making all the big saves. Very intense 1st 6 minutes of the 3rd stanza. Looking like it's gonna take something perfect to beat Miller.

And it was a bang-bang perfect play to beat Miller and make it 2-1. Bergeron almost put it through the net.

Intensity is an understatement. Pushing and shoving leads to brawling. All during the TV timeout. Keep theem cameras rolling boys!!

Rask making saves with his face. Buffalo threatens with 6 attackers but ice the puck with 6 seconds to go. See ya for Game 4 on Wednesday night.
